This collection connects official State Parks sources with the historical landscape of Humboldt Redwoods, Avenue of the Giants, and Jay Smith Road.

State Parks source collection#

Different kinds of agency material#

A visitor brochure, a management plan, and a project notice serve different purposes. The brochure provides regional orientation; the plan provides dated planning and environmental context; the notice identifies a particular agency project. Read each with its title, date, and status intact.

Related interpretation appears in Humboldt Redwoods history, Avenue of the Giants history, and environmental history. The map library distinguishes park mapping from historical survey records.

These pages are independent explanatory references. JaySmithRoad.com is not a State Parks website and does not imply agency endorsement.

Civilian Conservation Corps development#

The State Parks CCC history record adds the park’s recreational development and surviving facilities to this collection. It identifies the 1921 Bolling Memorial Grove origin and includes a 1935 planting-crew image in the agency’s account. The photograph’s reuse rights are separate from the text’s value as a historical source.

For related environmental history, see the USGS flood station records and the Eel River research hub.
